South Indian Special - Yellow Cucumber Pickle - Dosa Avakaya

Hello Foodies, today our special dish in Yummy Kitchen is  South Indian super special and spicy pickle "Dosa avakaya pachadi" - Cucumber-mustard Pickle. It's very simple and easy to make with fewer ingredients. This pickle works well with Yellow Cucumber. We can not use the Green Cucumbers that we used to use in salads. Let's check out the ingredients required and methods to prepare.

Ingrediants:

400 gms Sour Yellow Cucumbers

1/3 cup Mirchi Powder (70 gm)

1/4 cup Salt (¼ Cup + 1 tsp)

Mustard Powder (1 Spoon less than 1/3 Cup)

1/2 tsp Turmeric

3/4 cup Oil

Preparation:

  • . Wash and wipe dry Yellow Cucumbers, remove the seeds and cut into ½ inch pieces.
  •    Now add these Yellow Cucumber pieces to a mixing bowl.
  •   Add salt, red Mirchi powder, and Mustard seed powder (rai powder) to these cucumber pieces.
  •    Now add oil to the mixture. Mix well all the ingredients.
  •    Allow to marinate for at least 6-8 hours then cucumber pieces will absorb salt, Mirchi well, then it tastes yummy.
