Bommala Koluvu


Bommala Koluvu i.e Display of dolls of gods and goddess , mortals, saints, martyrs, animals, birds arranged on steps that are set up using wooden or metal planks. Being a Telugu community women, I do organise this Bommala Koluvu on Makara Sankranthi festival for five days. Organising this Bommala koluvu is nothing but integrating the modern and uprooted people of the Telugu Community with the rich, beautiful culture and Tradition of Andhra Pradesh.



On Bhogi festival , I do arrange this Bommala Koluvu and continue till five days. We do offer Prasadams on these five days, starting with Pulagam, fruits, sugarcane pieces,nava dhanyalu,regi pandlu & sanagalu on first day morning and fruits, senagalu,sweets and Pulihora in the evening time. Every day I do offer different Prasadams like Chakra Pongali, Ksheerannam, Arisalu, Boorelu, Laddulu and Gaarelu, Vadalu etc. 

Daily evening i do invite my friends, neighbours, relatives to see the Koluvu and offer "Thambulam" with beetel leave,nuts, flowers,Blouse piece, senagalu along with pasupu,Kumkuma. 


We all do chant holy prayers of all gods like Lakshmi Ashtakam,Kanakadhara sthuthi, Durga Sthuthi,Lalitha,Vishnu sahasra nama Parayana, Mani dweepa varnana stotram & finally we do end with Lingashtakam. After parayana, i do offer prasadam to Dolls and give aarathi.

After offering Prasadams to God, i do distribute to guests and neighbours. All our community people do enjoy this festival together with sweets, prayers, funny chitchats.
